Public Health Registered Nurse

Vancouver Coastal Health/ Richmond/ 2020-present 

As a Public Health RN on the 0-5-year-old team, I specialize in providing comprehensive antenatal, maternal, and newborn assessments and tailored education for families. I am one of the designated mentors for new hire orientations and BScN nursing student rotations. I am BCCDC-certified to immunize all populations, focusing on scheduled immunizations for children aged 0-5 and administering vaccines during yearly flu clinics, COVID clinics, and outbreak scenarios. Additionally, I authored an educational tool and developed community resources to connect Richmond families with local services. I also co-authored a workflow currently being implemented at the Richmond Hospital Birth Centre, designed to streamline the transfer of information from the acute care setting to public health.

 

Clinical Operations Supervisor

Vancouver Coastal Health/Multiple Sites/ Oct 2021-Dec 2023

As the Clinical Operations Supervisor for the River Rock, Pacific Autism, Lipont, and UBC COVID clinics, I played a pivotal role in supporting public health through education, clinical leadership, and expertise. I led the planning and implementation of a pediatric COVID vaccination clinic. My responsibilities included supervising designated staff by managing assignments, scheduling, coordinating team efforts, evaluating competencies, and identifying ongoing training needs. I collaborated closely with regional public health leads and multidisciplinary teams to develop and enhance clinic operations. Additionally, I was proficient in vaccine transport and cold chain management and provided training and education to new staff in proper vaccine handling.

 

Public Health Clinical Resource Nurse

Vancouver Coastal Health/ Richmond COVID Clinics/ May 2021-Oct 2021

As a Public Health CRN at multiple COVID vaccination clinics, I supported core competencies in public health through education, clinical leadership, and expertise. I supervised designated staff by managing assignments, scheduling, coordinating efforts, evaluating competencies, and identifying ongoing training needs. I was skilled in transporting vaccines and maintaining the cold chain, and I provided training and education to new staff on proper vaccine handling.

Perinatal Registered Nurse

Vancouver Coastal Health/Richmond/2017-May 2021

I provided family-centred nursing care for women during their antenatal period, labour and delivery, and postpartum recovery. I was skilled in conducting maternal and newborn assessments and offering breastfeeding support. Proficient in evidence-based labour support, I stayed updated on pain management techniques in the perinatal field. I confidently fulfilled all roles during neonatal resuscitation or emergency cesarean sections. I communicated effectively with other healthcare providers for necessary consults or referrals and collaborated with public health departments to arrange specialized community services following discharge.

Postpartum Registered Nurse

Fraser Health/Burnaby/2016-2017

Provided postpartum and newborn care in addition to education and breastfeeding support. Supported families during their discharge transition and provided group discharge teaching sessions with 5 to 8 families. Collaborated with public health departments to arrange specialized services in the community.
